Fusebox and Consumer Unit Upgrades

Is your current fusebox or consumer unit outdated or unsafe and in need of an upgrade to current regulations ?

Does your fusebox or consumer unit look like this ?

If so then its time for a upgrade, these board can be 20+ years old without being inspected since installed.

If a fuse blows it can be a nuisance to replace the fuse wire or know which one has blow, new consumer units is just a flick of a switch and power is back on and easily identified.

With current regulations electricians have to install RCD protection which would mean a board upgrade anyway so avoid unexpected costs and get it done so future work can get the go ahead.

Consumer Units

Here is some examples of what your consumer unit should look like, with having RCD protection and now SPDs are a new requirement. we do are best to keep our work neat and to the highest standards.

RCD And SPD

What is an RCD? An RCD, or residual current device, is a life-saving device which is designed to prevent you from getting a fatal electric shock if you touch something live, such as a bare wire. It can also provide some protection against electrical fires.

A surge protective device (SPD) is designed to protect electrical systems and equipment from surge events by limiting transient voltages and diverting surge currents. Surges can originate externally, most intensely by lightning, or internally by the switching of electrical loads.
